🌳🚌 Who is the man behind the lawns, gardens, bus driving & love at The Church?
Meet Garry Graham – co-owner of The Church, founder of External Property Maintenance, and all-round outdoor enthusiast and school bus driver with a friendly demeanour and strong work ethic. (Note: He is currently booked out and his books are closed – however, you are welcome to request to be on his waiting list).
🌳 Garry’s days are filled with mowing lawns, maintaining gardens, pruning hedges, and helping locals keep their properties in top shape.
🚌 When he’s not working on clients’ homes and properties, you’ll find him behind the wheel of the local school bus – a role he thoroughly enjoys, especially for the priceless stories and the joy he gets from getting them safety to and from school. Whatever spare time remains, Garry turns his attention to The Church, continually improving its grounds and gardens with care and pride.
👨‍🌾 A country boy at heart, Garry grew up in regional NSW, with strong Scottish farming roots as a proud descendant of the Gordon and Campbell Clans. He spent much of his youth on his grandparents’ dairy farm and later helped his father on their cattle property 🐄—a rural upbringing that instilled a lifelong work ethic.
👨‍🔧 Most of his career has been spent as a Motor Mechanic. In his 30s, he purchased his own mechanical repair business—one that was named “Mechanical Repair Business of the Year” by the Motor Traders Association of NSW, beating major dealerships statewide. Garry is also a qualified NSW TAFE teacher 👨‍🏫, having shared his technical knowledge with the next generation of tradespeople.
🚒 For 17 years, Garry served in Fire & Rescue NSW, earning the rank of Deputy Captain, and was honoured with:
🎖 The Australian National Medal for Service – recognising long and diligent service by those who risk their lives or safety to protect others during emergencies.
🎖 The Fire & Rescue NSW Medal for Long Service & Good Conduct
👩‍🚒 His emergency service background gave him extensive experience in leadership, calm decision-making under pressure, and practical problem-solving.
After relocating to Tasmania, Garry applied his skills in several local roles:
🏊‍♂️ Lifeguarding at the Campbell Town & Ross pools, to
👨‍🔧 working as a field service technician in the construction industry and now
👨‍🌾 Running his External Property Maintenance business full-time.
⛪️ He also plays a central role in the restoration and care of The Church property, making sure it is just as welcoming and well-maintained outside as it is inside.
🙋‍♂️ Over the years, Garry has generously volunteered on the ANZAC Committee, Pool Committee (including daily pool maintenance), and is a Life Member and former Executive Committee Member of the Midlands Agricultural Association – Campbell Town Show.
💚 A lover of the land and the music that tells its stories, Garry’s all-time favourite artist is Slim Dusty. Whether he’s working, listening to country tunes, or spending time at home with Nicole, Jack, and their 2 German Shepherds, his happy place is right here at The Church—a place he’s helped build, nurture, and preserve. 🥰
