The Church Signature Tasmanian Platter

Keeping with The Church’s strong Scottish history our specialty is “The Church Signature Tasmanian Platter” similar to a Ploughman’s Platter but with some traditional ingredients with a few extra Tasmanian touches.

What is a Ploughman’s Platter? “A meal packed for a ploughman to take into the fields. There are records of a “ploughman’s lunch” mentioned in the 1837 book of the “Life of Sir Walter Scott”. A Scottish historian, novelist, poet, and playwright”.

The Church Platter

Showcasing Tasmania’s world-class produce. Each platter includes:

  • Tasmanian leg ham off the bone,
  • Tasmanian wallaby salami (Wallabies emit almost no methane, are indigenous, wild-sourced & uniquely Tasmanian!),
  • Tasmanian pickled octopus, (from Stanley NW Tasmania)
  • Homemade Scotch eggs (a Scottish favourite of a boiled egg encased in seasoned sausage mince, crumbed and air-fried),
  • Tasmanian cheeses: hard cheese, soft cheese, blue cheese (vegan options),
  • Tasmanian Pinot & rosemary jelly (vegan),
  • Tasmanian quince jelly (vegan),
  • Homemade date & nut ball (vegan),
  • Seasonal homemade dips (vegan),
  • Pickled onions, gherkins, pickles, olives, artichokes (vegan),
  • Seasonal fruits (vegan),
  • Local honey (from literally just up the road) (vegetarian),
  • Sourdough bread, crackers & Scottish oatcakes (vegan)(gf options).

Platter size is suitable for 2 people. For vegetarian & vegan options the portions are adjusted to be of equal value to our regular platter.

The Church Signature Tasmanian Scones

Also keeping with The Church’s strong Scottish history our specialty is “The Church Signature Tasmanian Scones”  Made fresh daily on-site.

Are scones Scottish? Scones are thought to have originated in Scotland in the early 1500s and the first known print reference was made by a Scottish poet in 1513.

Homemade Scone with Tasmanian butter, local gourmet Tasmanian Jam and Tasmanian Cream.
