$10.00
ROAST DINNER – BEEF – thin sliced (ideal for elderly or those who cannot chew thicker meats)❄️🍽️
Our Frozen Budget Community Meals are a service we proudly offer to support our local community with affordable, homemade, and nutritious meals. These are not part of our main catering or regular menu but are simple, wholesome “old-time” classics—budget-friendly, healthier alternatives made with seasonal produce, including vegetables and herbs from our own garden.
We proudly source 100% Tasmanian meats from our trusted local suppliers, this silverside is from Tasmania’s Pandani Premium Smallgoods. Wherever possible, we use Tasmanian-grown ingredients, including fresh herbs and vegetables from our own garden or local growers. Our primary fresh produce supplier is Young’s Vegie Shed, as they prioritise Tasmanian produce whenever available. To ensure the freshest and most seasonal options, vegetables in our meals will vary, meaning your dish may look slightly different from the photos—but always packed with quality, NUTRITION, and the best flavours of the season!
This is fresh meat (not pre-frozen). It is roasted at Pandani Tasmanian Smallgoods. See image. Some people, especially the elderly, find it difficult to chew thicker cuts of meat. These finely sliced portions make the meals more enjoyable and accessible for them. We will also be adding home-cooked, thicker-cut versions soon to cater to different preferences. These finely sliced options were a priority for those who needed them most. Description from Pandani’s website: “Homestyle Roast Beef: Prime cuts of yearling beef outside, mildly seasoned and roasted to perfection”.

Cooking every day can be a challenge, especially for those who are elderly, live alone, have mobility issues, demanding jobs, or simply prefer not to cook. This is not a profitable commercial venture but a community-focused initiative, with most costs covering ingredients, packaging containers, labelling printer, ink & label reel costs, food license fees, a new freezer and running expenses, utilities, and a small contribution to labour. Our goal is to make nutritious, homemade meals accessible to those who need them while keeping prices as low as possible. This initiative is about supporting our local community, ensuring that everyone has access to wholesome, affordable food.

Why Community Meals Matter in Our Rural Town
In our small rural community of around 900 residents, access to affordable, nutritious meals is more important than ever. With the rising cost of living, many people are struggling to balance expenses, and the price of fresh, quality ingredients continues to climb. Cooking every day can be a challenge, especially for those who are elderly, live alone, have mobility issues, demanding jobs, or simply prefer not to cook.
OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY: If any community members or farmers have excess garden produce they would like to donate, please leave it at our gate, letterbox, or the shelf behind our fence at the entrance. This produce will be used for community meals, NOT for any of our commercial cooking. All donations are gratefully accepted, providing a wonderful opportunity to use nutritious, seasonal produce in excess of your needs to benefit the entire community. Kindness is everything.
Our Frozen Budget Community Meals aim to fill this gap by providing wholesome, homemade meals at an affordable price, ensuring that everyone—regardless of their circumstances—has access to nourishing food. Whether it’s for convenience, health, financial reasons, or simply needing a break from cooking, these meals offer a simple, budget-friendly solution for our local community.
This initiative is not about profit—it’s about supporting our town and ensuring that good food remains accessible to those who need it most.
