One of the first things musicians, singers and presenters comment on is the exceptional natural acoustics. Built in 1857 for worship and congregational singing, The Church was designed long before microphones, when voices needed to carry naturally throughout the building.
Its soaring barrel-vaulted ceiling, thick sandstone walls, timber floors and heritage architecture create a warm, rich and beautifully balanced sound. Voices and acoustic instruments resonate effortlessly, while speech remains clear and easy to hear—often requiring far less amplification than a modern hall.
